I was told by my recruiter that basic might be put on hold for me when I leave in august. I’m not sure if it’s still going on

Continue monitoring the situation and stay in consistent contact with your recruiter. Guidance will come down from MEPS about how ship dates will be impacted. I see from your profile heading that you are going into the Reserve, so you will be a hometown shopper flying directly out of a local airport. Since MEPS will be the ones providing your airline ticket, which you'll receive from your recruiter, speculating too much at this juncture won't do you much good. Believe me, you'll be informed well enough in advance if your ship date gets pushed back.

There is currently some delay. Soldiers were being held prior to starting basic training to look for COVID symptoms. Then the added travel restrictions prevented movement of troops from basic to AIT or their duty stations. A decision was made to halt all basic training for two weeks. Not sure if that was extended or not. At this time, things are being assessed and plans are being made to move forward.
Keep in contact with your recruiter. He/she should let you know when to head to the airport.
Until then, just sit back and relax. There is nothing anyone can do.

The situation changes on a weekly basis though.
