My wife is unable to accompany me to Germany for at least the first 24 months due to family responsibilities in the area. Will I be able to receive BAH at either full or partial rate based on my spouse's location while residing in the barracks.

You will receive BAH at the rate of your dependents location. If they won't be able to join you for two years you should select the unaccompanied tour that is only 24 months long instead of the 36 month tour.

If you select the 36 month tour because you want your spouse to accompany you later there is a good chance your spouse will not be approved for command sponsorship and you'll have to stay the entire 36 months without your family

You will receive BAH, BUT must provide proof of residence like a lease or mortgage agreement. If your wife is living with her parents, you will not get BAH

When you do your levy brief youll fill out paperwork for your intentions. Take family or. Leave behind and the zip for where that is. If you're moving her youll need to do a new 5960 when you get there to change the bah location.
