Interested in dropping a packet once I’m eligible to do so. It’s something I’ve been looking into for quite some time now.

There is no 68K in the SFAB MTOE, so there will have to be an approved substitution for you to fill a 68W slot. Unless you have 68W and a secondary MOS. 68Ws in the SFAB do the same thing as in a regular unit, tell me to drink water and change socks. Only difference is now you get to tell a medic in a different army how to tell that to people.

PFC (Join to see) - You're not going to see one of those substitutions. While SFAB commanders are capable of requesting and supporting various waivers, there will never be a situation in which there are no available 68W's (the second largest MOS in the Army) and that the best alternative is a hospital lab tech.
However, 68K is a very low density MOS with limited promotion potential. If you want to make the Army a career, it would be a good idea to make the switch to 68W now. You won't be able to apply to SFAB until you're an NCO anyway, so you have plenty of time to retrain and apply.

MSG (Join to see) 11Bs to replace 35Fs? That turned out horrible for COIST and they are doing it again? Ouch.

You are a 68K. Your organization doesn’t matter; you’ll be doing the same job everywhere. If you want real insight, look up SFC Joshua Hall on Global. He just transitioned to the new SFAB on Fort Hood a few months ago. He was one of my NCOs; tell him I sent you. He will give you all the info you need.

Make sure you are in a mos that they need. Or be willing to reclass. I would do it in a heart beat but im locked down for a few more years.
