Just got orders to Ft. Lewis Stryker Brigade combat team and looking for info from anyone stationed there. A PM would be great. Any help?

If youve never been in a stryker unit before, be prepared for a rediculous amount of time that could be used for training wasted in the motorpool, trying to maintain a vehicle that was designed by GD to breal down constantly and have contractors maintain them.

Make sure you check out Snoqualmie Pass for downhill skiing. The recreation office on post sold military tickets cheap that enabled you to ski for the whole weekend at three different resorts on the pass. All three were connected by trails so if you didn't like the conditions at one place you could go to the other places.

i grew up in the area. don't let people taint your perception with the "it doesn't do anything but rain". the Pacific Northwest barely breaks into the top 30 (with only 3 cities) in the "most rain" category (crime rate on the other hand...do your research!). the area does get it's fair share of rain, Washing State has the Hoh Rain Forrest. you are minutes away from mountains if you are in to skiing, hiking, or hunting and just a short drive to the coast. i know a lot of people who have either ETS'ed or retired and have stayed in the area. the cost of living might be slightly higher than other places in the U.S. but commuting in to the bigger cities where the higher paying/high tech jobs are, seems to be worth their while. good luck on your move.
