This information should be readily visible for veterans to learn about on the mta.info site, That information is also absent from va literature and signage in the medical centres. When confronted by this law today, an MTA worker went as far as to say that she is aware of the law but was told not to abide by the law which says that it is to be put into effect immediately. If there is one thing I feel strongly passionate about, it is the protection and education of our veteran community especially from predatory practices. New York city is doing everything to obfuscate the new law so that we veterans are forced to pay full price for metrocard when by law as of January 2019, we do not have to. I for one will be complaining to my senator and the human rights commission on how veterans are being treated.

A1C Ian Williams That bill is not law. According to the New York's legislature website. The only thing it did was pass the Senate. It was not passed by the House (or Assembly), nor was it signed by the Governor. If there is an updated law. I would like to see it.

A1C Ian Williams - The status at the link you provided shows that it has not reached the governor yet to sign.

No matter how many times you are disappointed with the way a city cares for it's people, always have faith that a city is more than just a sum of its people its actions. A city is an idea. I chose to serve my country. If that is not good enough for this city, then I will simply have to appreciate my own sacrifices and spend my money elsewhere.

Plenty of cities treat their veterans well and if none do it properly yet, it is up to us to build a city that does SPC Michael Dillon #VeteranLivesMatter

Interesting, but it is not the VA's responsibility to advertise this in their literature, tough it could be required to be publicized by the New York State Division of Veterans' Services since it is a state agency.
And looking at the related state legislation the different types of assistance to navigate both the state and federal VA systems rest on the state agency.
I also understand that this was passed in 2016, did it take until 2019 for it to be implemented? This is on your state and not on the Federal VA.

Thank you for the perspective SSG Robert Webster I admit I feel like I have to do quite a bit of catch-up to prepare myself to seek better questions that will lead to more complete answers.
