Canada is retiring its last Destroyer due to rust and no replacement for 6 years. Should we sell the Canadian Navy 2 of our Frigates to help?

The Proud Canadian Navy is wearing out. They lost two supply ships recently (one to a fire and the other rusted through) and both had to be retired. Now their last Destroyer is also rusting out. Their Navy Brass says it will take 6 years for a replacement. The Canadians have not asked us for any help but they should. Canada does help NATO with patrols in the Black Sea. They need the ships that we have.

The reality is that Canada has no incentive to build up their Navy. Why? Because we will never let anything happen to them. They're content to let us bear the burden of their protection. They spend a lot of time talking about their vaunted 'free' medical and education, but the only reason they can afford those things is because they don't have to spend a significant portion of their GDP on defense...because they know WE will protect them. I don't have a problem with this. I DO have a problem with them failing to acknowledge it. And I say this as someone who lived in Halifax for 2 years.

Ah yes, the good 'ol NATO mentality. As long as Uncle Sam is willing to pony up the bulk of the expense, the NATO allies are willing to help out. I remember during the early days of the Libya bombing campaign several countries used up their entire national stockpile of munitions in about a week's worth of operations.

Thanks for your opinion but they are our trip wire to Russian expansion. Russia wants the Northern continental shelf like China wants the South China Sea. They want the oil down there. They should protect themselves when our response time is days away.

Isn't this exactly what Trump is talking sbout when he say NATO partners need to pay their share? Their new PM is so far left he almost meets himself coming! They spend on social giveaways but not their Navy. They just announced they are cancelling the F-35. And why not America will provide... The only good news for Canada is they don't cross the boarder in great numbers ... Yet.

They don't cross because their dollar, once at par, is now worth 75 cents on the dollar. Its expensive in the USA, EH? They just buy stuff online and I deliver it because I work for UPS lol.
