Trump hedges as military presents new Afghanistan strategy

Given his vast knowledge of the military, suggest Trump defer to the experts. Of course since he doesn't seem to want USA to be number one in the world anymore, who cares what kind of vacuum would be created by just leaving.

Yes, if he goes to them for their military expertise. Question is how many of those 3 does he go to about Afghanistan? In political world he's stepping on Mattis's turf if he does, but certainly has right to do so. But the again how often have we seen Trump ordered in reference to Afghanistan other than use of MOAB?

You can only get so far with "He ain't Hillary". I was concerned that he wouldn't recognize a good strategy if one bit him on the ass. Well, it appears that he can recognize a bad one. That's hopeful. Folks, you and I know that we're dealing with a geographical nation, not a nation of one people. No strategy is going to transform them into a thriving democracy, or a thriving plutocracy, or a thriving anything. The best you can hope for is to leave them squabbling among themselves without squabbling with us. We only went there in the first place because international terrorists were using the land to train and launch terrorist attacks. Well, we took care of that, didn't we? Some have posited that we should have aided them right after we helped them chase the Soviets out as though they would have magically unified as one people under a leader of our choosing. Well, we didn't try and much to our credit for that decision. Why are we trying now?

Prior to 2001 and 9/11 i remember a very liberal friend of mine sending a chain email about Afghanistan and how we had to do something about the abuses against women, low education rates, and high infant mortality. Oddly enough once we invaded she sent another chain email condemning the war. The moral of the story is i dont know if anyone would recognize a viable solution...
