...Thunderstorms Developing Across the Sierra and Western
Nevada...

* Through 5 PM scattered thunderstorms will continue to develop
across the Sierra and far Western Nevada. Some areas impacted
include Lassen National Park, Portola, Truckee and Lake Tahoe,
Mt Rose, Reno and Carson City, Minden, Bridgeport, Mono Lake,
and Mammoth Lakes. Storms will be somewhat slow moving,
generally to the east around 5 to 10 mph.

* Impacts from storms will include: strong and erratic outflow
winds to 50 mph, frequent lightning, small hail, periods of
heavy rain, and rapid temperature drops. Localized flooding is
possible if heavy rains persist enough, including mudslides near
old burn scars.

* With storms developing, NOW is the time to seek a safe sturdy
shelter indoors or in a car, if you are outdoors hiking or on
the lake. Lightning is a real safety hazard even if the storms
are relatively weak, and can strike 5 to 10 miles away from the
storm core. No place outdoors is completely safe from lightning.

949 AM PDT Fri Jun 14 2019

The National Weather Service in Reno has extended the

* Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Snowmelt in...
Mono County in northern California...
Douglas County in western Nevada...
Southern Lyon County in west central Nevada...

* Until 1115 AM PDT Thursday.

* With increased temperatures persisting, rapid snowmelt will lead
to significant rises on rivers, creeks and streams across the
Eastern Sierra into parts of Lyon and Douglas Counties. This high
water is likely to last through at least June 20th.

* Minor flooding is likely along the West Walker impacting rural
roads and agricultural areas in Antelope Valley. Campgrounds along
streams in the eastern Sierra may also be impacted by high waters
and flooding.

* The highest flows often occur in the evening or overnight, making
flooding much more difficult to see. Cold, fast moving water is a
real safety hazard. Even fit adults that fall into streams can be
overcome by cold water shock.

Thank you, my meteorological friend SSgt (Join to see) for your efforts to keep us informed on the weather status. In this case the focus is on northern California and western Nevada.
I hope this did not adversely impact Father's Day activities for most families.
