Do you miss being stationed in Germany? I was stationed in Vilseck (Rose Barracks) from 2003-08, and loved it. I miss the bier, Volksfests, Oktoberfest, Schnitzel, bratwurst, sightseeing and the clubs.

I loved Germany so much that I decided to take a "European out" and lived, and worked in Germany, in the Wuerzburg area, for over 20 years. I've only been back in the States for about 4 years now.

I definitely miss Deutsches Bier, and all my old friends and neighbors. I really don't miss all the food being fried (bad for my beer belly), although I would dearly love a Jaegerschnitzel mit Pommes, from time to time. 8-))

I visited my High School friend there. I found out my friend was stationed in K-town and he found out I was stationed in Bamberg. When we met up, we had a great time catching up on everything.

Yes, I miss Germany. All the Fests and other community gatherings were great. The people would go out of their way if you tried to talk in German first. I was at Bitburg AB in the Eifel region. Belgium and Luxemburg were a stones through away and France was not that much further. Great bier. Great food. Good people, and wonderful memories. Yes, I miss Germany.

While in Prüm, I attended church at Bitburg AB whenever possible. It was 30 clicks away, but worth the trip for the beauty of the landscape.
