Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day and Week!

Let’s “Remember Everyone Deployed” today and every day until they return home safely once again!

Good “R.E.D. Friday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome to the end of another week from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 22 July 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Raise Day!” Why Not?

“Leaders raise their performance bar by working on their listening skills, reducing distractions, and learning to stay relevant. These same leaders help others raise their bar by challenging them to move beyond their limits and beliefs. When leaders raise the bar for themselves and others they develop a culture of continuous growth, learning, and accountability at every level of leadership! Leaders that set high standards and expectations are constantly raising the bar. Are you ready to challenge yourself, take risks, let go of your fears, and raise your bar high?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good afternoon Kerry and RED Friday. I finally made it on to the Friday morning coffee meeting and got to check in with Rick and the Colonel.
If we want to be successful and continue to be successful, we have to develop a process of continual improvement or "raising" our expectations and goals for ourselves. Otherwise we are standing in place and sooner or later, others will catch up and surpass us. Those who are most successful constantly look for ways to raise their performance to the next level.

No doubt you have benefitted from teachers, instructors, professors, drill sergeants, and other trainers raising the bar during your education and training. I expect you have helped others to endure and shine in their fields of duty/expertise by raising the standards bar incrementally to achieve more than they expected they could. I pray you that I are servant leaders and that we encourage others to respect those they have disagreements with. I pray that we each have eyes to see, ears to hear what God knows we need to see and hear, and improved listening skills. I pray that we are each increasingly doers of the law of God and not merely good listeners. 'For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. [‘Romans 2:12-13 ESV], my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown .

I pray YOU bless each adopted son and daughter of God who reads or listens to this prayer to with sufficient humility, discernment, stamina and fruit of the Spirit self-control, patience to persevere through the challenges we will face through the summer. Motivate each of us to assist and encourage those who rely on us to meet and exceed requirements. I am thankful that YOU are strengthening the character and fortitude of each of us as YOU prepare us. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. [2 Peter 1:5-9 ESV]

I am thankful that YOU bless parents with insight to train their children as YOU make it clear how unique and marvelous each child is. I pray for attentiveness and discernment for each parent as they raise the bar and encourage their children to meet it, then praise the child and raise the bar again for the training and education of their children – from tricycles, to training wheels to riding bikes; from learning the alphabet, to enunciating, to reading on their own, and increasing the level of what they read. ‘But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.’ [1 Thessalonians 5:8-11 ESV]

I lift those families who have family members and friends who are listed as missing in action to YOU. YOU know the status of each one as YOU have always known all things. I pray that YOU guide the teams searching for the missing in action to the remains of the dead and that you also guide investigators to the living MIA. I pray that each MIA who is still alive shall be rescued. I pray for each adopted son and daughter of YOURS who is grieving the dead and/or dying at this moment. I pray that YOU enable each one to sleep tonight in peace with pleasant dreams and allow them to wake refreshed. ‘Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. [Psalm 30:5 ESV]

I lift caregivers for disabled individuals including veterans, caregivers for aging relatives, caregivers for recovering patients, and parents of school age children to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each caregiver with endurance to do good, compassion as they care for those under their charge, and adult fellowship to encourage them through the challenges they face. Guide parents to make wise decisions about the education and training of their children. “But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore, it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.’ [Ephesians 5:13-16 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Friday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Saturday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Raising the bar is a continuous process not a one time thing. Sometimes it may only be a tiny millimeter but you must always strive to raise it a bit because stagnation is the result if you don't.

Excellent words of wisdom, Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen! We must all strive to raise the bar for ourselves and others a little at a time and in some cases, a great deal based on circumstances!
