Not sure of the REAL scope of your question. Normally a Compassionate Reassignment is ONLY approved in the case of EXTREME issues at home that should or will have a finite resolution period. In the case of a parental death and you are needed to help schedule services and resolve estate issues. The extreme heath issues regarding DIRECT family that can and will be resolved in a definitive period of time. I got a compassionate reassignment as a PFC when my mother died and I was the only adult capable of taking care of my minor siblings. That assignment expired NOT MORE than 2 years from issue. Compassionate reassignments are NOT generally approved because a soldier hasn't seen family in "2 years". You should be eligible for a PCS leave in conjunction with your deployment but that is subject to your leave on the books and the needs of the unit. Talk with your First Sergeant. He will have answers for you that take into consideration your desires AND the Unit's requirements. Don't count on being able to get a Compassionate Reassignment based on loneliness. Good luck.

I got stationed in alaska and denied command sponsorship so my family could not go, it took almost 2 years for the compassionate reasignment to go through. Hrc sat on it for a while, and im sure the unit i was in sat on it even longer, but as soon as i got to my new unit they are trying to ship me out within a week, normally i look foward to deployment, iv been 4 times. but this is kind of rediculous. What was the point of granting a comoassionate reasignment to be back with my family to just send me away withing a week or 2? Its kind of a cruel joke, expecially to my 2 young boys.

It is called "get the frack out". I had over 12 years in (almost 13) and was an E-6. In 3 years on that boat (submarine) I had done 3 WestPac, the last 2 were back to back. A 4 month special op. We just came in off that 2nd WestPac and I had been home for less than 30 days in the last year. I asked the detailer what my orders would be if I re-enlisted. He said there were a couple of boats that desperately needed me as Leading Petty Officer out on WestPac. So I quit. Not doing 3 WestPacs in a row.

Ya im done, im a ssg been in 10 years and deployed 4 times already 2 of those were 15 months a piece, this will be the 5th time, it was just a cruel joke to give me a compassionate reasignment right to a brigade that is immediatly deploying. And the answer is no, there is no dwell time, i had orders to go before i even got here. It is postponed a couple weeks tho becauae i cant pass my tbi test, i have a couple combat injuries they wanna fix up first, so my unit is pissed off at me.
