Sounds like you got an answer, TSgt David L., and I'm glad because I sure don't have one for you! I just wanted to extend my congratulations to your son. I know you must be proud.
When I "turned blue" on 20MAR70 at Fort Jackson, SC, there was no ceremony, no certificate and no blue cord. In fact, the only reason I even knew about the blue cord was that one of the sergeants told one of my buddies to go the PX and get one. We purchased them ourselves and that was it!

LTC Curlee: I am glad that it happened that way for someone else. Lots of people seem to think that I am crazy when I tell them that we got absolutely nothing at the end of infantry AIT and that if we wanted a blue cord and blue discs we had to go buy them. They were never mentioned during AIT.

LTC Stephen C. - I loved Grizzard. Very funny. I actually quoted him that very saying on Sunday before we left. Wise man! LOL

It happened exactly that way, SGT Jerrold Pesz. I was in B-12-3 at Fort Jackson, SC. Not only was there no mention made of a blue cord, "turning blue", etc., I don't even think we had a final/graduation formation.

Took 6 days for me and my guys. It was weird sleeping in the same barracks and when DS said "I don't give a F #$@ if you smoke just not in the B's" I almost passed out lol but yes this isn't something new. I mean it's the Army haha

SGT Jeffrey Celli - He had good things to say about all but one DS, who he still liked. I guess he got a bit carried away with one squad. It happens.

Sounds like too many folks are re-enlisting at the last minute and they are running out of vacant slots.
