This is world I work in now. And, while I work in a military community, I have always believed this is a common belief. Heck, John Kerry said as much years ago. I am sure many of my fellow teachers think this, about me and us. We have had teachers, actually ask students who received military academy appointments or 4 year ROTC scholarships... "Is that the best you can do?"

Didn't do it for the money, the fame, or to be a hero. Did it because I thought it mattered and I didn't want to look back later in life and regret not doing it. I'm not even interested in this teacher's specialty, or having a wits measuring contest with him, but I know I'm not a coward, I know when bad stuff happens my head stays cool and I get the job done, and that I've been tested in ways he probably never will be and was found ready and steady. To me that's worth more than his miserable opinion can ever disparage.

One of my favorite slams of those who think military members are dumb was the young lady who posted “military people can’t go to college their to dumb”. A young Marine with his Marine Corp graduation picture as his avatar responded back “they’re “.
