ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATIONThe City of Bay Village is currently holding a competitive examination for the position of Police Officer. To be considered for employment as a Police Officer with the City of Bay Village, the completion of a competitive examination must take place with the National Testing Network by September 11, 2023.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This position is responsible for patrolling the City of Bay Village, responding to emergency situations, protecting personnel and properties therein, enforcing all applicable laws, maintaining peace and safety, investigating complaints, aiding individuals, identifying criminal offenders, making arrests, identifying law enforcement and community issues, resolving conflicts, engaging with the community in a positive and proactive manner and providing other law enforcement and community policing services to the
public as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE EXAMINATION
AGE: 21-40 years of age at time of appointment
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent

Prior to appointment applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph investigation, psychological examination, physical examination, oral interview(s), pre-employment drug and nicotine screening, and must possess a Police Physical Agility Test Certificate from Cuyahoga Community College or Lorain County Community College.
2023 HOURLY RATES OF PAY
Probationary $58,798 base annual salary/$28.27 Hourly Rate
After 1 year $62,260 base annual salary/$31.37 Hourly Rate
After 2 years $73,712 base annual salary/$35.44 Hourly Rate
After 3 years $83,678 base annual salary/$40.23 Hourly Rate

EXTRA CREDIT
To be eligible to receive extra credit points, you must provide the following documentation when submitting your application: (Shall not exceed a total of ten (10) points)
1. Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or Police Science Associate Degree, OR Bachelor Degree from any accredited college or university in any field. Proof of education must be submitted with application. (5 points)
2. Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification for full-time officer, plus two years’ experience (or 4160 hours equivalent) in the field (municipal or township police officer, deputy sheriff, university police officer, Ohio State Patrol Officer, or Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority police office).
A copy of your OPOTA certification must be submitted with application. (5 points)
3. Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification without experience. Certification must be no more than one (1) year old. A copy of your OPOTA certification must be submitted with application.

4. Honorably Discharged veteran having served at least one continuous year of active military service in the Armed Forces of the United States. A copy of your DD214 must be submitted with application. (5 points)
