Has anyone heard of TopResume.com? Is it worth the cost to have them work on your resume?

There are too many resume assistance services out there that are free, especially for vets or people transitioning. Don't waste money paying someone for resume writing help. It's akin to throwing money down the drain.

That's just a few from a quick search on my tablet. Sure there are plenty more & also check associations for the industries you are interested in. Also need to add that I was once a headhunter and if you know your stuff you can spot a resume from writing services a mile away. They always got tossed in my reject stack.

Don't really agree. First, you need to determine how much you are worth? What hourly wage are you looking for? Once you identify the hourly salary of the job you want, then calculate how much time you've already spent on your resume and add the time you are about to spend. Once you complete the drill, then calculate how much you would have spent on a resume writer compared to your annual salary if you get the job...then ask yourself was the fee worth it.

That's one way to look at it (I'm very familiar with the cost/benefit analysis). The intangible aspect of doing your own over and over (like I originally did many years ago), was becoming intimate with what I had written. Answering questions relative to the resume content became second nature; put me at ease.
I will say that I did have help from the recruiting firm (non fee) I used. They provided guidelines, a suggested template, and homework (interviewing book to read). We got one submittal for review and comments.

PO2 Michael Henry As mentioned, do not pay anyone to work on your resume. Who says that the format they use will appeal to employers? Join LinkedIn. Once a member, join the LinkedIn group, "Veteran Mentor Network." You can ask the group to review your resume or ask for assistance with anything else that you need.
