Welcome "Everyone" to the “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

"Guess what Day It Is?" Yep! You Know!

Good “Wednesday & Hump Day!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 18 January 2023!

Today’s Message is: “Express Yourself Day!” Why Not?

“Great leaders know how to be candid and express themselves. When leaders lead by example they are expressing who they are and what they are about. Leaders that express themselves are productive and authentic. They work, think and act without approval, despite setbacks or resistance. Are you a leader that can express yourself? Then you don’t have to prove who you are!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

I have no doubt that you lead by example and that you express yourself candidly. I expect your integrity is genuine and you authentically express yourself with wisdom and intelligence. I hope you and I will continue to be increasingly fair in our treatment of individuals and how we speak to people. I pray for compassion for each of us and dedication to leave justice and vengeance to the LORD. HE will repay in the fullness of time. 'Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” [1 Peter 3:8-12 ESV] my brother-in-Christ SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL

I pray for trustworthiness, faithfulness, moral courage, and compassion for each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or listens to it. I expect that are true to your principles and that you dedicated to doing what is right whether or not anybody else is looking. Strengthen our resolve to persevere with grace and demonstrate YOUR love to each person we interact with. ‘Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath but we an imperishable. So, I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified [1 Corinthians 9:25-27 ESV]

I lift the humble, trustworthy, honest, and selfless to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU bless each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who are trustworthy, honest, and selfless by answering their earnest prayers with yes as often as YOU are willing – especially their prayers for wisdom, salvation for loved ones, their nation, and relief from nagging pains. 'So, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. [Philippians 2:1-4 ESV]

I pray that you and I heed the admonition of the LORD on listening to the Holy Spirit and pausing before speaking, yielding our tongue to the LORD: James 1:19-26 ESV 'Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore, put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Wednesday night and that you each will awake refreshed and healthy on Thursday morning.

Good morning Kerry and thanks for posting. We're halfway through the week.
Expressing yourself with thoughtfulness and confidence will convince others that you are sincere and worthy of respect and leadership. It's important for others to hear your views but you have to be appropriate in how you express them. Too often people don't pay attention to how what they say comes across and while it is valid and meaningful, the way they choose to express it, makes it too easy to ignore.

Thank you my friend and brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) for your diligence in posting our friend, former RallyPoint member emeritus, and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burroughs VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day for Wednesday, Tuesday 18, 2022.

Topic: Express Yourself Day
My British Expatriate parents were multilingual, generous, and kind. They demonstrated respect for each person they interacted with and taught us to respect each person, by God's grace.
1. As a young boy, I learned to speak clearly and enunciate well.
2. As a US Army infantry officer I used the 1/3 to 2/3 rule in planning. Give your subordinates twice as much time to develop their plans as you allowed for yourself.
3. I taught my sons when they were young how to speak clearly and enunciate their words. I did my best to demonstrate respect for each one I interact with. By God's grace my sons demonstrate respect for each person they interact with
4. I have needed corrective lenses to see clearly since I was six-years old.
5. I do my best to lead by example; push myself to improve; encourage others to do the best they can, while ensuring they get sufficient rest and nourishment; and give credit where credit is due while absorbing responsibility for mistakes.
6. I am thankful that God gives HIS own eyes to see and ears to hear.

Quotes:
1. James Fenimore Cooper 'The language is not always able to express what the eye sees'
2. Brian Tracy 'In life, you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet.'
3. Kate Adie 'I keep telling myself to calm down, to take less of an interest in things and not to get so excited, but I still care a lot about liberty, freedom of speech and expression, and fairness'
4. Henry Moore 'Because a work does not aim at reproducing natural appearances it is not, therefore, an escape from life but may be a penetration into reality ... as expression of the significance of life, a stimulation to greater effort in living.'

Scriptures:
a. Galatians 5:5-10 ESV 'or through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion is not from him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is.'
b. 1 Peter 3:8-12 ESV 'Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
c. Peter 3:15-18 ESV ‘And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.’
d. 1 Corinthians 14:21-22 ESV 'In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers.
e. Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV 'Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.’
f. Philippians 3:13b-16 ESV' But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.’
g. Philippians 4:11-13 ESV Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.’
h. 1 Timothy 4:14-16 ESV "Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers."
i. Galatians 5:22-24 ESV 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires
j. 2 Peter 1:5-9 ESV ‘For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.’
k. James 1:19-27 ESV 'Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.'
