The Regional Sr. Director of Data Center Operations is responsible for strategic facility planning and daily operation, maintenance and repairs of NTT’s Critical Facilities for an assigned location, campus or geographic region. Critical Facilities encompasses both electrical and mechanical systems, and the Director is expected to have expertise in all areas of Data Center facility design, operations, and maintenance. The position must maintain innovative and state-of-the-art knowledge on understanding Data Center designs and solutions, and operate as a thought leader both within the company and across the industry. The position will operate as a spokesperson and thought leader to represent the company in industry forums, with customers and with regulatory agencies. The position will lead all activities that ensure NTT’s industry leadership in cost-effective, highly available, and concurrent maintainable, fault tolerant Enterprise Class Data Centers. Finally, the position will contribute and be a pivotal role within the strategic planning and leadership of the company facility operations. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates as an industry expert and thought leader in Data Center design, management and maintenance, including speaking and writing visibility to industry groups and customers.
Operates as a senior level representative of the company and NTT’s industry leadership with customers, industry leaders and regulatory agencies.
Manages and leads an industry leading organization including staff recruitment, development and retention and organizational development that is leading edge.
Establishes policies, procedures, standards and operating processes that ensure the highest operational effectiveness.
Directly manages partnerships and customer relations to ensure effective planning, design, deployment across the entire value chain. This includes maintaining high level partnerships with vendors and customers, maintaining structured processes for ongoing dialogue and assessments, and operating as a key representative of NTT.
Oversees major programs and projects including major capital projects with high levels of complexity, schedule impact, cost management and design requirements.
Manages complex budgets and strategic plans, including proactive monitoring, communications and control activities to ensure ongoing achievement and fiscal management.
Maintains proactive and clear communications with all levels of the organization, partners and customers. Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communications in writing, speaking and influence.
The position is a senior level position within the company, but at the same time, the position is responsible for maintaining excellent employee and customer relations which means being able to empathize and relate at all levels of the organization. Additionally, the position needs to be a leader who is competent in technical and operational activities and is willing to be present during crucial after hours activities.
Provides site leadership, implements training, and acts as both a coach and mentor to site personnel.
Works directly with customers, internal teams, installation engineers, technical consultants, and other implementation personnel to coordinate customer turn-ups and critical maintenance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong technical background in critical data center facilities, IT Operations, and data center construction, alongside excellent leadership, people and organization skills More information
Strong background in mechanical, electrical systems design review, layout, and installation, operations, including ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical designs.
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25 and compliance issues
Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations)
Familiarity with data trending / tracking and analysis and ability to rapidly learn and use metrics and integrated critical monitoring systems.
Excellent communications, organization and influence skills.
Ability to adjust communications to the audience and to be able to organize logical thinking and complex information into clear and influential messaging.
Ability to think on the feet and interact in dynamic situations.
Ability to organize, facilitate and adapt level of details to the right situation. Skills in situational leadership and mentoring.
Ability to motivate and mentor people at all levels. Ability to appeal to the heart and to demonstrate a true interest in helping others succeed is very important.
Ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven environment
Ability to lead and facilitate process flows and complex projects, to ensure smooth transitions from across the value chain (Partners, Raging Wire, Clients).
What will make you a good fit for the role?

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar field required (Mechanical preferred) OR equivalent education and experience usually obtained with 7-8 years’ directly related education and experience.
Master’s Degree preferred.
A minimum of 10 years relevant experience, with at least five years’ experience as a senior manager in a highly uptime-sensitive data-intensive organization or critical operations. Pertinent experience in Military, Intelligence or Government operations is highly desirable.
Experience managing and motivating teams of 8-10 or more employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.
Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, visual and listening skills.
Close visual work on a computer terminal.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
Able to lift heavy equipment, up to 20 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platform.
WORK CONDITIONS

Typical data center environment with loud noises and changing temperatures.
Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation.
Work on site; no telecommuting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Responsible to carry a cell phone and provide 24 x 7 support as needed.
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and on-call support.
Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center.
Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast paced environment shifting priorities.
Analytical thinking, problem solving, customer oriented, and commitment to quality.
Must wear leather close-toed shoes with a solid rubber sole.
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
