As a retired reservist, I've received my retirement orders and need to update my ID card and see about getting Tricare Select. What is the earliest I can receive my ID card and how do I enroll in Tricare. Thanks!

BLUF: Are you 60 or a gray area retiree (under 60)?
That makes a difference...
Use the link below see what you need to do.
As CAPT Ball said set up your appointment and make sure that everything is updated in DEERS.

Sir, I will be turning 60 next month. I did reach out to the local ID issuance office. According to them , while I can get my ID earlier than my official retirement date, the card wouldn't be activated in the DEERS program until that day and my RED reserve card would be deactivated. So while I can get on base, I wouldn't be able to use it (commissary, BX, etc...). So until that time arrives, I will continue to use my reserve ID card, maintain full access and wait until the proper time. Thanks for your input!

MSgt Timothy Nelson good luck! If you haven’t filed your VA claim I suggest you get on that! Enjoy the income you earned serving our country.

Just get online for your RAPIDS ID card appointment. Have your old card and orders in hand, and you're good to go. Your ID card will have a health group number on back which is TRI Care by default. Make sure your dependents get a new card as well as they are covered, hence can drop their plan as needed. Make sure you purchase an eye and dental plan as Tri Care doesn't do that.
