Great story, GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad. I've been to the Vietnam Wall many times, and every time I go I see some of these items there. I can just imagine how much "stuff" has accumulated over the years. The ones they choose will be excellent items for the Vietnam War museum.

The Wall is a work of art that activates our sensory world, each differently than others.

As we approach the wall our neuronal activity kicks in and they systematically are integrated across levels of personal analysis by way of synaptic, computational, and psychological routes. As such we experience our emotions by way of this process.

When I have approached the wall I could never make the distance. Some of the men on that wall are closer to me than my own blood brothers, and to see their name on that wall gave them the finality I have not been ready to accept, all for reasons to personal to mention here. One day I'll make those last few yards and visit those men I called friends and brother.

What I am proud of is that the citizens of the USA finally recognized these men with a memorial that challenges articulation to describe. That recognition was/is so well deserved.

While I would never need a memorial, a plaque, or a website to memorialize the men and women of the Vietnam War, as they are permanently embedded, in my heart, and mind. It has been gratifying to see citizens gradually recognize the warriors of this era.

This was the war where these warriors fought two battles. The one in-country in Vietnam, and the other started the day they came home.

I have been there several times, because The Wall is my history. Each time I go there I look for my name for it should be there among my friends and family, but some unknown reason the Good Lord saw fit not to let me belong to that truly elite group of hero's. My brother and sisters are at peace there, something I have longed for for so many years. To all who are there just know there are still a lot of us thinking of you and the the day we can serve together again. God Bless!
