Yes, his is a very sad story. However it is a beautiful, inspiring song. Thank you to my nephew Philip, a Green Beret and true American hero.

We had a Corgi* mix who, if you held her like a baby and sang that song, and ONLY that song, would snarl and snap at your fingers until you stopped. She wasn't trained to do it; I don't even remember how we discovered that she'd do it, but it got laughs out of a lot of people.
