They never took pictures of jumps in Jump School 1972, just the pictures in the class book. But I do have pictures of me when jumping with the 82nd. and my own chute. Lucky me, my friend and I took pictures while jumping. We had Instamatic cameras in those days, but my Instamatic camera got wet crossing a river in Panama.

Combat Jump out of a UHI at 800 feet, had no time to take pictures, 15ft of T-10, and 15ft of lines, by the time you were at 6 seconds, Prepare to hit the ground. Lol

MSG Dan Walther - Lol, I walked on a canopy too, like walking on a cloud. Got off ok, we separated fine and everything was ok. But I did hear the guy below yelling at me. Lol

I have had people ask how high have you jumped. I laughed, I've skydived from 13,000 feet. I replied it is not how high you have jumped it is how low you jumped something civilians aren't allowed to do, but a combat jump at 800 to 1000 ft. Why do I have a reserve parachute I won't get a chance to use it... wam bam on the ground...

One exception to how high have you jumped outside of my skydiving is HALO and those guys have one of the most dangerous jobs outside of deep sea divers. I am not sure of the record but I know SF have jumped at somewhere around 40000 with Oxygen and special suits and lots of things can go wrong with that kind of jump plus if they do a very low opening the effect of feeling like you are flying and guys have flown into the ground...

5jump.com. This is the company that does all photos for ABN School. If you had one taken they should still have a copy of it.

The next best thing I guess is, to have a picture of yourself receiving your Blood Wings, or wearing it on uniform.
Most don't still have their Blood Wings, but I do, and my Beret with the hand stitched unit insignia that I sewn on in 1974 in the 82nd. ABN.
But the best thing I still have is, my dog tag from the early 70s, with a date scratched on it, my 18 year old daughter wear's it still today. When I'm dead and gone, she'll look at it and remember me once again and Smile.
With all that's said, "History has it's own way of presenting itself to you and others." Salute!

SGT (Join to see) My young son, (age 57), now has custody of my Dog Tags. I last wore them to a Marine Corps Birthday Ball four years ago.

They are a part of me to share, but I miss not having them in my possession!

CSM Charles Hayden - Nice that your son has the tags now, can be pasted on for the next generation, it would last forever.
