Hello community. I am a specialist in AIT. About to graduate in a month. I received orders to go to Fort Lewis in Washington state. However, I also Volunteered for airborne school. I’ve heard great things about Fort Lewis and obviously call things about benefit of airborne oh down the line in your military career. I am 28 years old and I know this is a personal choice but I wanted to reach out to the community and asked some of the People who have been in this sort of dilemma As well as hear from people who may have did both in the pros and cons of each. Just on here looking for some sound advice and guidance. Thank you all

I am glad you decided to join the brotherhood of being an Airborne Soldier. JBLM, has several airborne units 160th SOAR, 1st SFG, 2/75th Ranger BN, and rigger. Good luck and get your legs strong and your run time down.

If you go to Airborne school, your duty assignment will generally get changed. Later in your career you will be able to go to JBLM if you like.

Thank you SFC. I figured it would be changed, and I know It’s not good to make decisions based on duty stations. I was Just pleased with the assignment, or more so the area. I’m going to do my best wherever I go.

Devante Perine chances are you'll almost certainly stay in forore than one term. When it's time to reenlist you can go to JBLM then. It is a very nice area

I spent two years of hell at Ft Lewis. I was a combat wrench I was stuck with MP’s. Not all were rough. I don’t know what it’s like for infantry, but did me it sucked.
