I’m re-enlisting and I would really like to go to fort Carson but because of my current unit for my own sake I would like to know what the units out there are like. Specifically the field artillery units. Anything helps

It's mechanized, so it loves being in the field, long days, never seeing your family, gunnery, NTC, ineffective PT. Morale is very low, and the Officers care more about their careers and OER bullets than taking care of Soldiers.
Colorado Springs is great, Carson not so much. As a Soldier, you won't get to experience much of Colorado except for Pinion Canyon.

It may be different today than when I was there , but I never had a problem.
Yes I spent a lot of time down range, whenever the FA wanted to shoot we had to be there for target location and such. We also were able to tell them where they were firing from for kicks.

Fort Carson Mountain Post Living I understand you wanting to engage with the population, as the MWR should. But countering a person's semi-detailed opinion by just saying "Ft Carson is a great base" doesn't provide anything to the discussion, not to mention the opinion of a support agency doesn't really provide much to a servicemember who has to actually deal with gunnery, the field, NTC, and command climate.
Videos such as the one you posted also only showcase the "good" (as there's no way the Army would ever allow an official video to showcase anything that could detract), in my experience Soldiers are more concerned with the bad.
Morale on Carson is atrocious, and it's because of the way the Soldiers are treated and how units cannot be creative enough to train without spending 3 weeks in the field.

Thanks for the feedback. We're fairly new to this site. We can forward up specific suggestions to improve. The quote around creativity to train w/out spending 3 weeks in the field is a good place to start.

Go to Fort Carson. 4ID has artillery Units in the BCTs and training land to maneuver and an impact range to qualify your crews.

I am civilian waiting on word this Friday from a contract agency placing strength and conditioning specialist with the 4ID at Carson. I pray they win the bid for these roles because if they do, I have myself a new job of which I want so so bad not just for what I'd do, who with but where at. Darn well near dream job setting. Fingers crossed!

Don't know anything about field artillery, but for me Ft Carson was worth it. No matter what the hint was like you were still at the foothills of the rocky mountains in Colorado.
