Is there any reason I’m not getting BAH in my paychecks while I’m in AIT? My wife still lives in Hawaii while I’m in fort Benning, shouldn’t I be receiving BAH in my checks?

Since you are in AIT, you have an S1 or personnel section. Let your NCO know that you are not being paid properly.

CPT Cavett Ishihara - Also validate the DEERS is right, and your marriage/birth certificates match your situation.

You should be getting Hawaii BAH while you are in AIT. To help you with that you will need your orders. They should say you have dependents and where they are staying while you are in basis and AIT. If it does than talk to your DS and bring proof that you are not getting it, your previous months LES. They should be able to take it where your finance is and get you your BAH and however many months you have missed.

I second what SSG Sanders said with the small note that if the AIT is long enough they may only receive BAH for where your AIT is. I believe that time requirement was 6 months, but definitely get anything you hear on here run past your leadership and more importantly finance and the S1.

Ok good to know I got here in December and graduation date is may 8th so around 5 months. I’ve only been receiving my base pay as of right now so I’ll talk to one of my leaders about the BAH

SPC (Join to see) - Sounds good.
Just a bit of professional guidance:
1.do some priliminary evbaluation of your situation and try to use your resources (not the PNN: Private News Network, which I will granty sometime Rallypoint can be similar)
2. turn to your leadership professionally, respectfully, and honestly with your issue and any COAs that you have developed
3. leadership SHOULD always take care of you from there (guide, mentor, escalate, et cetera) and if they don't, that is a reason why there are open door policies and IGs
**Note: I am not recommending turning straight to an IG, but they do have staff and one of their strengths is making pay issues similar to this disappear**
Good luck!
