I'm a spc medic in korea with 7 months left here and 2 1/2 years left in. I'm considering reenlistment but only if I can land a spot as a flight medic. I previously went through paramedic school right before enlisting but fell short before graduation due to lack of time to complete my internship. I still have the knowledge and I really want to actually achieve my paramedic certification and work on a bird. What steps do I take from here?

Side note: I have poor vision and wear glasses, will that be a detriment?

If your vision is corrected to 20/20 with glasses no problem. You need to contact the 68WF2 (flight paramedic) branch manager and have him email you a current packet for flight medic. Part of the packet is a completed class 3 flight physical so you need to do that ASAP. Once the packet is complete talk to your battalion retention NCO. If that doesn’t get you anywhere talk to your brigade retention NCO. Let them know you want to reenlist for flight medic and that you have the packet for them to send to HRC. HRC sends you a school date and you either accept and reenlist or deny and get out or reup for something else. It’s a tedious process just to get in and then a long year of training but it’s worth it at the end. I’m a little more than 3 weeks from graduating the last phase and getting my F2 ASI.

Great info SGT (Join to see)! When you complete your Flight Medic packet the BN Career Counselor should be more than happy to process your request. I just reenlisted a 68W Medic for ASI F2.

I just finished up the process and got my school date it was about an 8 month process from start to finish but about 2 of those months was waiting for my curtailment to change my deros date, but once I had my packet complete and submitted it to HRC a had an email 15 minutes late with a confirmation saying I would get my reservation date email in the next two weeks, I know all the FY18 slots are full but get your packet squared away now so once FY19 opens you can turn it in as soon as possible cause it fills up fast
