Looking to try to be a WLC instructor when I redeploy, hopefully in Hood or Bliss.<div>Any current or former SGLs have good insight on it? Most people I talked to say they didn't like it.</div>

Are you going to like it? Who knows. You aren't like anyone else so even if they liked it you may not and vice versa.
Not all jobs in the military are ones that we like. The majority of the Soldiers understand they need to do that job and make it happen. I had the same answers on being a Production Control (PC) NCOIC. I didn't want to do it because others had hated the job. I reluctantly took the job and learned fast and became successful in that job/position.
Any NCOES instructor, replacement PLT SGT, WTB Leadership, etc will be favorable when you do it and you are successful.
Don't stress if others have liked it or not. Jump into the position, give it 110% and rock it. I am sure you will be successful and appreciate the time away from your MOS.

My 1SG in Germany told me that was my next position and I wanted to jump out of the 2nd story window and run away. I went there and rocked it. I used a simple thought process -
What is broke and how can I fix it?
What can I improve and better the unit?
My next reluctant job is as an BN Operations NCO - not looking forward to it but I understand it is needed for progression and I will go rock it!

What I like about the SSD 1 Modules, and although it can be a bit dry at certain points, was the fact about goal settings and what you should have accomplished when you leave the organization.
The biggest thing that hit me on the head was that your organization, regardless of size scope and responsibility, is that you leave it better than how you found it.
That guiding principle right there could turn Washington, the DoD, and every branch of service down to the fire teams right around. I only hope that when I leave the Army for good that the principles taught by the SSD in leaving the place better than how you found it holds true.

Are you on Army Career Tracker (ACT)? If not I suggest you go check it out. Really helps you set some great goals and ways to track them down with help from others as needed.

How could anyone not like training? If you are not committed to very long hours, mentoring our future leaders, instilling/reinforcing discipline, standards and conduct, sacrificing any and all personal time, than an instructor is not for you. This position will enhance your career progression but Remember it's not about you, it's about those future leaders and our Army. Regardless of what others say, an SGL is an instructor. It's a tough job, but rewarding as well. Talk to your 1SG about applying. Good luck.

SGL'S are not INSTRUCTORS. If you want a challenge and really be a instructor, be a AIT instructor and see how many hours it takes to teach a stranger, whom is new to the military, to be a Soldier and teach them their job.

I am gonna have to disagree with your statement SSG Artis. I am unsure how you think or assume as an SGL we are not instructors. We have to teach proper PRT, squad drill, communicate in writing and individual training just to name a few. Cycle after cycle we have Soldiers that cannot or have no idea how to accomplish these tasks. So we have to "Instruct them one the step by step process" So once again I ask, how are we not instructors? I know AIT instructors and they tell me it is just as difficult as teaching WLC, you teach 10 level and we teach 20 both are difficult just on different spectrums and rewarding at the same time.
