Can anyone help explain the promotion process in the IRR while on Title 10 ADOS?

I'm looking to go from the ARNG to the IRR while on Title 10 for the next three years. I have a multitude of reasons and I've done my research well, but the one thing I can find little info on is being promoted while in the IRR. I'm told by a few people this is a good option for me to advance my rank while I'm gone and makes it easier to extend my orders but no info on how enlisted promotions work. I have PLENTY of TIG and TIS with WLC. Does anyone have any information?

Im an IRR soldier and have been told by the IRR team at HRC that enlisted personnel can be selected for promotion, however they must go back TPU or IMA and into a valid position . Additionally, you cannot transfer out [to a TPU/IMA unit] of the IRR while on orders. Officers, on the other hand, will be promoted once the reach max time in grade. I haven’t been able to find any regs or policy letters that could read for myself, but this is how business is currently being conducted.
At some point the rules changed (I think around 15’ or 16’) because I used to know folks that pinned all the way up E8 in the IRR. I was selected in 2017 for SFC, however my only options were to find a slot. However, I was on ADOS and so I would’ve had to request REFRAD orders to end the tour to be allowed to transfer out of a unit.
That’s my experience. Let me know if you make any headway on this issue.

What’s the AR for promotion for IRR? Im wanting to go back active but not at the rank im at now.

I know many people who have gone to the Reserves from the Guard for auto promotions, but not the IRR. I'll look into a few regs and see what I can find.

So, if you are just doing the minimum IRR requirements, you'll never get promoted. But if you are proactive, and look for tours of duty to get good years, and complete all necessary schooling for the next rank, it looks like there are virtual boards to make the next rank.
Since you already have your schools and TIG/TIS, I could see trying to board as soon as possible after switching to IRR.
