It is absolutely a broadening assignment! And HRC is tracking it as that. 1st Army has battled with HRC to get us recognition. I have been an OC/T with 1st Army and have seen several Soldiers get selected to the next higher grade while here and after they have PCSed. Great opportunity to travel TDY! You become a master of the AAR process. You partner to Coach and Mentor with Reserve and National Guard units which othe CTCs(NTC,JRTC) do not do. You will learn doctrine and how to apply it to training. But most of all it's like any assignment, you make of it what you want, good or bad. I highly recommend it for you.

I would really like the opportunity, and I think I would not only excel at it but enjoy it at the same time, now just to convince branch....(historically hasn't worked out for me)I was nominated and cleared for AIT platoon SGT but couldn't attend due to court orders (fighting for custody) that required me to stay here at Bliss but I think OC/T is definitely a position that excites me, so here is hoping branch listens this time.

Already spoke to branch...and of course they said Korea. Ask for a Broadening assignment and they say Korea....it's unreal sometimes.

OC/T is a great assignment, especially if you’re KD complete. I just got to Hohenfels not too long ago, and the wealth of knowledge I’ve picked up here is amazing. It’s still weird being away from Soldiers, but everyone here talks about progressing in their careers and going back to Soldiers as a better leader. Even though it’s colder here than where I came from, that’s the only negative I’ve seen to this point.

Talk to your branch manager. Here at Fort Polk is a hot fill assignment which means if you want to come to Fort Polk the door is wide open. Ideally you have already completed your PSG time in a unit. The reason for that you will be coaching other SFCs and 1LTs mostly on daily operations from Offense, Defensive and Attack operations culminating on live fires exercises integrating everything available from Infantry to Aviation. Wheeled mechanics are part of the Lima team and are the experts on anything to do with support. Great job opportunity and excellent opportunity to grow as a senior NCO. It will give you the chance to spend a lot of time with your family while engaging in professional development and college or technical courses. Best part you PT on your own, no junior Soldiers to take care of and when the rotational units come you work on a 14 day rotation out of a month. Highly recommended as a SFC. Come join us at Task Force 1.

SFC (Join to see) please see the following HRC link to the NCO Broadening Assignment: https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/NCOs%20Broadening%20Program . It should be a good start for your search, and I am not sure if OC is included on the list. GL!!

SFC (Join to see) - you are right, but if you look at the bottom of the page you will see the HRC Broadening POC. At last review the Army saw ROTC, Recruiting, Training with Industry, advanced civil schooling, broadening seminars and AC/RC as broadening opportunities. My point is if you are looking for a broadening assignment then I do not think O/C is that type of assignment. If you are looking to go to a CTC that is an assignment that you have to work on with your branch manager, and that is just another assignment not necessarily "broadening." GL!
