So if I say a friend of mine revealed adhd to his recruiter, but they told him he should've kept his mouth shut to avoid the excess issues of paperwork etc. Does that mean he can't go to the station in the next town to get recruited instead? Or does that prospect application stick on the record permanently?

So I can second the shut-the-fuck-up policy. If it's something you KNOW will be found out, tell them, but if you don't know it will be obvious then don't. If you have actual problems that will keep you from graduating basic and tech school then you need to find out if they're waiverable or not.

If the recruiter put it in the system then yes it stays with them but if your recruiter telling you to keep your mouth closed then do so!!!

It all depends on if the recruiter put it in the system or not. If the recruuter put it in the system then it is in the system and nothing can be done, but if it is not then he should be good to go. I have no current medical issues ;however, my recruiters told me to learn the shut the fuck-up policy. Also I understand he is your friend but you have to look at how him being in the Navy with ADHD could affect other shipmates. I have a friend that has depression and has tried commuting suicide but he really wants to join the Navy. I have had to look on how him being in the Navy would effect my fellow shipmates around me, and I had to make the choice of is this going to help later on. That is justme though.
