I challenge every leader on Rally Point...Current, Active retired reserve or Veteran...I Challenge you..."IF" you feel like you still have something to contribute, IF you look at the TV news stories about riots and tensions and think "This ain't what I fought for". IF you miss being a mentor to the core of your soul....I challenge you to find a Civil Air Patrol Squadron, or Sea Cadets for our sailors or a Young Marines unit and VOLUNTEER. All my Cadets ask for is some of my time. I have GREAT Cadets! I work with some great leaders, some prior service, some still in and some that never were.

Do you want the most fulfilling volunteer job for people like us? Volunteer for Civil Air Patrol. http://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/

Odd you brought that up, kinda why I recently took interest in RallyPoint. I was recently propositioned about setting up a military studies program at a school that helps kids get caught up where home-schooling parents failed because of incompetence teaching their kids, kids from broken families-for many reasons, where the regular school districts gave up on them and they have fallen behind. May or may not have pay, has to cover all branches, and have to develop training plan for 1 hour a day or 1 hour a week. My question, what should a program focus on and where is a good place to start? I know how to write lesson plans for military and employee training, but geez, I am grasping for a start point and direction on this one.

CAP University has GREAT resources! SSG Sean Thoman Go visit a local CAP Squadron. We have MANY of our cadets that do not have access to JROTC because they are Home Schooled or are in Christian or other private schools. I just got back from a weekend camping trip with my CAP Unit. It was AWESOME.

Give the local Cadet or Composite Squadron a call. We do follow the Air Force Drill and PT Manuals but we are not totally military training either.

Don't forget Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, or DeMolay, or Boys and Girls Clubs! There are all sorts of worthy groups in which we can help mold and influence young people in positive ways.
