Love it. Maybe they should have some artic training to give them a little more reason to learn how to do it.

In Alaska ('78-'82), we had what was called "Snowhawk Orientation Training." All personnel had to go through it. Combat arms soldiers had a 2 week course and we REMF's had a 1 week course, all in the field. The very first thing taught was constructing some type of shelter. The temperature had to be no warmer than 25 degrees. When I went, the nights got down to around -15 or colder. When it is that cold, soldiers learn very quickly.

While serving with the 4th AG Company, Ft. Carson, CO from 1973 to 1978, we went to the field almost every quarter. My troops got very efficient at setting up the old GP medium.
