I understand when a soldier has an issue out of their control and they receive an honorable discharge with full benefits. Why do others who actively do poorly and TRY to get themselves kicked out often get honorable with most if not all benefits though? About to give the boot to one of my soldiers, he isn’t the only one in our squadron, who does everything in his power to get out of work, who actively fails pt tests by simply getting up etc. he is one of many who have received honorable with full benefits. Why do we let awful soldiers like this gain the same benefits that others who sacrifice and work hard get?

Brother, the CDR decides what type of chapter a Soldier will receive. JAG will make a recommendation of what type of discharge a soldier will receive, from worst to best case scenario. CDRs then decide to take that recommendation, which 97% of the time they will take.

The stronger is the chapter packet for misconduct the easier is to validate an other than honorable discharge or a bad conduct discharge.

The only reason being, is because the Soldier didn't do anything to get a Bad conduct, Dishonorable, or Other than honorable discharge. Those are equivalent to being a convicted felon where you get no type of benefits.
