This article states that the ACH gen II will stop a 9mm round and fragmentation, aren't our current Gen I ACHs rated for more than that?

Why are they bothering if they are going to buy a different design ? Or is the new Halo looking helmet not going to be issued to everyone ? Answering your question .... no , from Kevlars to the current ACH have only protected from 9mm bullets and fragmentation . To try and protect for anything larger would be impracticable it would weigh to damn much.
