Maj Marty Hogan - I have always admired Voltaire and John Locke because their works revealed the essence of freedom

Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that November 21 is the anniversary of the birth of Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher François-Marie Arouet best known by his nom de plume Voltaire.
His wit, his attacks on the established Catholic Church and Christianity as a whole, and his advocacy of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and separation of church and state contrasted with his British contemporary satirist Jonathan Swift (30 November 1667 – 19 October 1745).
To be honest I prefer the wit of Swift to Voltaire.
Here is a video summary of Voltaire billed as "Voltaire was one of the wisest, funniest and cleverest people of the 18th century. He continues to have lots to teach us about toleration, modesty and kindness."
