More than likely depending on when your deployment start/end date and the start/end date of your ALC, you will be deployed with your unit to Korea but approximately about 1-2 weeks prior to your ALC report date you will be sent back to your duty station and then sent to your ALC in time for your school date. These days with the STEP schools are mandatory and units/Army will not keep you from your career progression like in the past.

I'm about to face something like this with a rotation to Honduras and SLC Resident. I've already sent an RFI about it. Totally keeping my fingers crossed.

If you are 'deploying' as part of 2ID, then no. If you are there as part of a garrison unit, like 8th Army and others, the it depends on your tour. If you are on a one year (unaccompanied) then you will most likely go en-route to your next duty station. If you are on a two year tour (accompanied) or if you do an IPCOT the. You can interrupt your tour to go and your DEROS will slide to the right.
