I am posting this because I want all you Neanderthals out there to sit up and take notice; particularly you Infantry and Tanker types. As a father and step-father to four wonderful and very intelligent girls (now ladies) and two fantastic step sons, I am here to tell you time invested on the range with your kids is time well spent. The skill sets and discipline framework you find on any shooting event will be invaluable in their later lives. Your children are never too young to learn gun safety and if you instill a healthy respect of all firearms, chances are you will also give them a Proverbs 1:7 wisdom.

I do not consider Engineers as true combat arms....hence not in the Neanderthal category. More cerebral as a group with the exception of my cousins. My father was an Engineer BDE Cdr in Vietnam....I went Infantry and then migrated to Transportation when the USAR lost combat arms.

12B are in the combat arms and the only combat arms in the Reserves. The other engineers are not. I just thought the statement was funny. I always tease my grunt brothers that 12Bs are just like 11Bs, but with a brain. :-)
