Hello. I would like to know if there is someone here who is part of the Army Nurse Corp to tell me about their experience.

I’m a current Army nurse. Your question is pretty broad. What specifically do you want to know?

I’m a 66H, a medical surgical nurse. I’m also a commissioned officer. The Army doesn’t have a BSN program so it relies on production from civilian programs/ROTC. Some nurse direct commission through an AMEDD recruiter.

While I have not deployed Army nurses do deploy, both on combat and humanitarian missions. A lot of medical personnel deployed to hard hit areas of the country when COVID first hit.

I spent the first 8 years of my career working in field units so working in the hospital has been an adjustment. Depending on the assignment you’ll be working with other services (Navy & Airforce) in addition to civilians. It makes for an interesting work environment.

I originally commissioned in the Army Nurse Corps, but that was many years ago. I was enlisted Navy, went to school and received an Associate Degree in Nursing. At that time the Army was commissioning ADN's. After receiving my BSN I transferred back to the Navy. There are a lot of pors and cons to both branches as NC officers. If you have a more specific question I'd be happy to try and answer you.
