You have to complete SSD1 before you can take BLC and SSD2. And if you are not enrolled, you need to talk to your training NCO to have them enroll you.

You have ssd2? then what happens now... you do everything for promotion to E6. As soon as you get approved to get the 6, then you will go to ALC. Based on the new system, no one goes to ALC until they have been approved for the next rank.... I think....

Basically, there should be someone in your company who puts soldiers into school. If they are telling you to go elsewhere, they aren't doing their job. Go to the S3 then and try for it there. Just keep going up the chain. If they still won't do it, then contact IG.

You have to complete ssd2, go to promotion board and get your "P" status. Once you get that then your battalion schools nco will reserve you a seat to attend alc. You will get an email once your reservation is made telling you where to be and when you need to be there. You'll get another email from an sgl from alc telling you what you need to complete before you get there.

SSG James Elmore - I just went to alc back in April. I got my "p" status in January this year and by the mid of February I had my seat reserved for alc, I didn't have to do anything but wait for my class date. The class is a total of 53 days including weekends, ft lee was a good post. A lot of history around there. Any other questions let me know and I'll help you out.

Your unit admin training NCO should be able to assist you in getting set up for any seat reservations for schools and your orders and help you get your check list taken care of, If you are authorized a government travel card the admin can give you instructions on how and what you are allowed to use it and how to reconcile your travel reimbursement to pay off the government card. I personally prefer to use my own money and have the unit purchase the airplane tickets or if I drive I keep my fuel receipts, record of mileage driven, and the total mileage to my destination and home or record, I find that my travel pay is a bit better than when I use the government travel card for experiences and airfare

You actually need to contact your branch manager and your mos branch office. 91B is Ordinance right, so you will have to contact people at Ft Lee. You will likely also need to have your "P" Status if you're an E-5. Because under the new STEP Program they are assigning ALC seats by Date of Rank and Promotable status. Staff Sergeants that haven't attended get first seats, followed by Promotable Sergeants with the most time in grade and current promotions points on their 3355.

Training Rooms & BN S3 have nothing to do with ALC seats. They only help you arrange your TDY orders and get you rental car memos.

SGT (Join to see) - What you have said about the Training NCOs and S3s, may be true, but if they are not involved with the unit's S1 and CSMs in this particular area, they are not performing their jobs and I would consider the units command structure a failure. From what you are saying and what some of the others have implied in this thread is that there is a massive systemic problem in leadership development. The really sad part about this is that OPTEMPO has been used as an excuse in this failure.
