I have been DA selected to attend the Drill Sergeant Academy. How is the selection process carried out? My gt score is 94 and the requirements state that it needs to be at least 100. Secondly how do I go about acquiring a waiver? The commanders checklist states I can be waived by the HRC commander but I can't seem to find any info on that. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

If you were DA select, it’s likely a waiver has already been processed as it’s your branch giving you up to be a DS

Your questions are answered. Now focus on your preparation. You didn’t ask but the greatest challenge NCOs face is fatigue, it leads to lapses in judgement/overall mental capacity. Fatigue can be mitigated through fitness. Be as for as you can heading to the Academy. When you go through the rigors of the drills and evaluations your fitness level will greatly increase your ability to work through the evaluation. Anyway, I am sure you knew this, just hitting it home as all to many NCOs feel they are fit for regular duty, they can handle the rigors of DI. I argue that it is not the case. The average NCO is not physically ready, which again leads to mental lapses that can result in failure.

The challenges of dealing with recruits are unlike anything you have experienced in your career. You will be their mentor and what they should strive to emulate your knowledge and example. Privates are allowed to make many mistakes as they matriculate through basic. NCO's are supposed to know and set the example. Never lie to the privates, It can haunt you.

As SSG (Join to see) stated, you've already been given the waiver. You need a 100 GT to volunteer for DS assignment. HRC placed you on the assignment, so HRC has already granted the waiver. In fact, if you were to look in the special instructions in EDAS it would say GT waiver has been approved
