What is more likely is that Soldiers on TDY at a school would have to stay there until the budget is fixed.

Not sure why that MRE comment came into play. I got my pay delayed for a few weeks in Jan 2005 while deployed to Iraq. There was a shitstorm of worried lower ranking soldiers who habitually live paycheck to paycheck. I remember having to get my whole 87 soldier section together and talk to them about why we got involuntarily extended 47 days in Iraq and at the same time tell them I didn't know when we would be getting paid but we would get paid eventually. I am not an optimist so I doubt Monday COB but that would be nice. There are Socialist Democratic Liberals involved so best of luck with that. My guess is 10 Days or longer.

One of the NCOs in my command is supposed to fly out today for ALC starting next week. Looks like that's not happening. If STEP wasn't bad enough, if this keeps up, it'll push his first look for E7 another full year. (Points in his MOS are 14).

I have never heard of that before, when it happened in the late 70's we did field problems and worked and schools continued I was in PNCOC/CA at the time. I highly doubt that schools will close or they will send troops home as it is not cost effective and the money for these classes has already been spent at the beginning of the fiscal year (Oct 2017). I think Fox news needs to do more research. The military doesn't screech to a halt over a short term issue. Hell even when we had any funds for ammo or transportation we still went to the field in trucks or jumped out of cattle cars and went bang bang and threw pine cone grenades at each other.
