Great post CPT Jack Durish. The Purple Heart is indeed a beautiful medal that has a rich history. While I managed to get through Vietnam without receiving one I cherish the one my wife's uncle was awarded. I do believe i saw an original Badge of Military Merit at Fraunces Tavern in NYC in the early 70's. Fraunces Tavern is where George Washington bid farewell to his officers.
