Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Saturday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome to the weekend from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 12 November 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Thought Day!” Why Not?

“My thoughts on leadership! Leadership is about a commitment to anything bigger than yourself. It’s about having mutual respect for yourself and those you lead. Leaders have to be approachable, willing to listen and learn, yet be transparent, so people understand their values, and know that they can make mistakes just like anyone else. Leadership is about critical thinking and developing a work-life balance. Have you thought about what leadership means to you?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good morning Kerry and Happy Saturday. I am on call today but I don't expect it to be overwhelming...we've had a few of those lately.
One of the things we teach in resiliency is the power of our thoughts and our ability to choose them. Taking a positive perspective, looking at things from a positive point of view makes a huge difference in your life, your relationships and your leadership. If you don't know where or how to start, try keeping a gratitude list...one thing in the morning and one in the evening that you are grateful for that day. It's amazing what a change toward the positive will do for you.

I expect you have become a better listener, logical thinker, and are open to interacting with new people. I hope your ability to listen well, eagerness to learn, and increasing transparency is appreciated by those close to you. I expect that your ability to reason well has increased as you have grown and matured through experience and training. No doubt you are increasingly transparent and eager to help those going through experiences you have gone through. ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.’ [Jeremiah 29:11-13 ESV], my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown

I pray for sufficient fruit of the Spirit self-control, faithfulness, compassion, and goodness for each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or hears this prayer LORD. I thank you for purifying our character through sanctification of the soul of each of us dear LORD. ‘For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ [2 Peter 1:5-8 ESV]

I expect each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters is growing in grace and wisdom and takes to heart that ‘the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.’ [Proverbs 9:10] I pray that we increasingly place our trust in YOU as we make our way through these challenging times. I am grateful that YOU guide us day by day and lead us towards the wonders YOU have in store for each of us. ‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. [Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV]

I hope our demonstration of integrity, eagerness to share and learn, as well as increasing transparency of character is worthy of emulation. No doubt your humility is genuine and you do not put on airs in social interactions since you have self-confidence and have no need or desire to demean others. The LORD justified each of us who are HIS adopted sons and daughters at our salvation and cleanses us of all sin and defects. By HIS grace HE sees us as pure with impeccable character even while HE sanctifies our soul to perfectly reflect HIS image. I hope and pray that you and I have taken to heart the admonition of the LORD to confess our shortfalls and failures and ask the LORD to help us genuinely repent and when appropriate ask for forgiveness. Scripture reminds us ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift,’ [Romans 3:23 ESV] and ‘if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ [1 John 1:8-9 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Saturday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Sunday morning.
