Advice on becoming a Warrant Officer (882A Mobility Officer)

I am currently in the process of putting in a warrant officer packet and wanted some advice/feedback on WOCS and WOBC as a 882A, Mobility Officer. Any words of wisdom or experiences will be helpful.

Well, what MOS are you and what sort of experience in the transportation field to you have? Not just 88N have the experience needed to understand and complete the job.
WOC? Don't just read the SOP...memorize it, trust me. Memorize it.
WOBC? It's long, but there is a lot of knowledge there. Keep a notebook with you. You may know some things, but the new stuff you must write down. A reference guide is helpful when you leave the school!
Last, ensure that being a Warrant is truly what you want. To quote my TAC, "Gone are the days of the coffee cup, Tom Seleck mustache, Warrant. You will not be an enlisted soldier that gets saluted." There is a big difference in Army life when you become an officer. Be ready. Be prepared. Make sure that this is what you want.

My last unit was a transportation unit, but I served as the supply sergreant classified in a 88M slot. I assisted in the planning and coordination of some of our movements though. I am currently working in the 42A field and would prefer to go 420A, but do not have the years of experience and my commander offered a 882A position. Thank you for the advice! I will be taking the Unit Movement Officer Course, Mobilization/Deployment Planning, and TC AIMS II Course as soon as I can get a reservation to those courses, to give me a general idea of unit movement.

You don't want your packet to have any waiver requirements. If you need a waiver for anything it will not look good. It doesn't necessarily mean you won't get selected. Absolutely no moral waivers! Don't be easily discouraged. It may take more than one packet. Good Luck.

CW3 (Join to see) - I was under the assumption that board could could not see any of your waivers? Everyone I have spoken with has said the same thing. If that's the case, a "moral" waiver wouldn't affect him after its approved at G-3 Special Programs and Boards. Actually any waiver for that matter.

From my time at the 200th WOC school should be a breeze for you. Just read up on the required materials to get thru the coursework cause sleep is never a given in that type of environment.

You got it in the bag! The Alabama guard site did have requirements for warent basedan on field, one I looked into required security plus. I'm already network+ so shouldn't take much for me to get that. I was told aviation was the only field that needed no background or time in grade. Others have some ncoer requirements and time in grade. Just picked up my E5 so this will be one thing I'll be looking into in the future.

Congratulations on picking up your SGT. 882A doesnt require a background or time in grade in the field, but there are certain courses you have to have completed. I am working on those now. Good luck with working on it. Let me know if you need anything.
