When I commissioned through ROTC in 2014, the minimum GPA to assess into active duty was 3.31. Thousands of cadets were shut down from active duty. When I see news like this, it makes me realize that I graduated college during the wrong time frame.

In my case, I did not want to be part of ROTC in the eighties. I joined the military much later in my early thirties and I didn't become a commissioned officer until I was almost 34. I have had the best of both worlds. If active-duty shuns the reserve component they are in for a big surprise because most of us have 3 or more deployments see if we've been in since 9/11. Active duty now have to do CGSOC by correspondence and two weeks at the beginning and two weeks at the end period they're saving money so the reserve and active-duty you're actually doing the same courses now. Those that still Harbor a resentment towards the reserve component, I believe, it is unfair it should be case-by-case basis because I believe many Reserve officers can bring a lot more skill sets to table and they don't answer every time with Roger that! We are citizen -soldiers who can do normal civilian things and we can deploy the war and be just as proficient as the active duty in many instances and we have more to bring the table. I work in a training command and I see the whole Spectrum of the Officer Corps.

This seems rough but reasonable, even a student with a hard science major should be able to keep above 3.3 although a 3.1 may be more abtainable like it was for my year group. However if education and advancement is their reason for attending University. I will say the cadets that were forced Guard/Reserve were not ready for Active Duty. There were some great Officers that elected the Reserves, I'm only speaking of the ones forced.

Tempting, but very ill timed for officer's who's promotion boards are next week. I'd have to give up my MAJ promotion and wait 12 months + 4-8 months for accessions to active duty. Placing me at a 3 time Passover for first look at MAJ. Maybe next near.
