Hopefully someone can square me away. I’m applying to WOCS and was wondering if my current TIS will transfer to new pay grade. So if I current have 5 years enlisted and obtain WO1 will I get payed as a WO1 with 5 years experience, or will it start over as WO1 0 years. Hopefully that’s not too confusing.

You will get paid at WO1 with 5 years Time In Service. I had almost 4 years TIS when I commissioned. I got paid as an O1 over 4.

Time in service isn’t the same as time in grade.

Your time in service will continue until you ETS/EAS but you’re time in grade is based on your date of promotion.

Your TIS will not change. Think of it this way, when you got promoted to SPC, did your TIS change? No, only your TIG changes upon promotion.

Thank you, was getting mixed answers. Just didn’t know if it would be different jumping from enlisted to warrant, as far as how the Army calculated pay entitlements.

Getting selected as a Warrant Officer is huge, and definitely a promotion, just in a different pay structure. Like I said though, you will keep your TIS. Best of luck on the selection process, it is super competitive, but every WO I have spoken to has said it is worth it.
