I have been in the Army for nearly 2 years, I have not been to any schools and my current rank is PFC will be promoted soon. I am one of my Company's ACE suicide intervention representatives. I have also assisted my unit in moving $4.35 million in equipment overseas. I am applying to become a 153A - Rotary Wing Aviator. I am nearly complete with my packet minus a few administrative things and my Letters of Recommendation. I am trying to put my packet in for the May board. Any information would be amazing. A side note I worked aviation before the military, but it is the military experience side I am having trouble with. Thank You.

I have seen a good amount of PFC’s and Specialsts get accepted into the program. As others have said in this post, don’t worry too much about your lack of military experience. Focus on what you do have, and showcase that instead. How you present yourself to the board, as well as how much effort is put into the accuracy of your packet can pay dividends. Leadership ability is a highly sought after character trait. If you can prove to the board that you are a competent soldier with the ability to learn and lead, then you shouldn’t have any issues. Now is the time to submit your packet due to a high demand for Aviators. Also worth mentioning, you can submit more than the required minimum of LORS. The first year I submitted, I only did minimum. The second year I reapplied I had two CW4’s and a CW5 who wrote LORS for me vouching for my abilities. It doesn’t hurt to have more people fight for your case. I would also highly recommend calling the Warrant Officer recruiters. They are more than willling to assist in this process and may even double check your packet for errors before you officially submit. But above all, don’t stop applying. If this is what you really want then do whatever it takes. Even if you don’t get selected the first time keep on applying until you do. Don’t take no for an answer. No one cares about your packet or future more than you do.

Thank you so much sir. I’ve been going over my resume that I’ve typed up nonstop. Is there anyway I could send you a copy of the resume for you to read through?

I love doing research and seeing peoples old posts where they've found success in their endeavors they faced. Congratulations on making it through WOCS and flight school.

#1 is the letter of recommendation. Do you have a Warrant Officer you work with and has seen your work? Get them to draft a letter for you. In most Warrant Officer career fields experience is paramount. As a rotary wing Warrant youth is on your side. Focus on want you can bring to the Corps (i.e. drive, determination, and work ethics) more than what you’ve done. Best of luck to you.

If at all possible do you still have your packet? I’m trying to triple check mine before submission to a CW5 I know

Mine was submitted 12 years ago so no. But on that point, any Warrant worth his salt wouldn’t give out their packet. You are the best author of your own career. A big piece of the packet is not just the content, but your ability to write and communicate effectively. You won’t cut and paste your flight solo so why should you do so for your entrance exam. Submit your own packet to the CW5 He is the one that knows you and will offer suggestions as needed. To a certain degree the Warrant Officer Corps is a fraternity; and the letter of recommendation is the ticket in. If you don’t have the chops you won’t get the letter it’s that simple. Then the board is just selecting the best from that boards group. Lastly don’t let the recruiter derail you by tell you to enlist as a crew chief and then drop your packet once you’re at your duty station. Don’t get hung up on the January board. There will be more, even then if you don’t get picked up in the first board you will get a second look at the next board. Only then would I say take the crew chief job work your butt off get noticed and reapply. Good luck.

It’s more so I’m uncertain what to put into the Military experience portion of the resume.
