Bio 

Colonel (R) Kelly E. Hines is a native of Oklahoma. He began his military service as an enlisted Infantryman with the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1985 and earned a Active Duty Commission in 1992 as an Aviation 2LT. He has commanded through the brigade level, is rated in the OH58, UH1, and UH/MH60 helicopters and has numerous combat deployments. Kelly has been happily married for 28 years.

Commander of the Army's largest, most diverse, aviation brigade: As the Army’s only Aviation Training Brigade Commander, responsible for meeting the global strategic needs of the U.S. Army and numerous allied nations; responsible for supervising the flight instruction for over 4,500 students annually; managing a 206,000 hour flying hour program; developing flight instruction for all Army aircraft; and overseeing the quality control, standardization, and safety programs of subordinate units and all flight training contracts. Responsible for four subordinate battalions with over 1500 Soldiers, Army Civilians and contractors. Also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of 5 airfields, 15 stage fields, 554 aircraft and over 100 remote training sites.

Commander of an aviation assault battalion with over 450 Soldiers, 30 UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and over 150 vehicles. Developed and implemented a training program that ensured the organization was ready for its combat deployment. Served as the Commander of a Multi-Functional Aviation Task Force in Afghanistan for a 12 month combat deployment consisting of 9 subordinate commands with a combined total of over 500 Soldiers and 31 aircraft. Charged with executing full-spectrum Combat and Combat Support operations in support of Coalition, Partner Nation, Special Operations, and Conventional Forces in Afghanistan. Additionally served as the Commander of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wolverine, to include life support and force protection of an additional 1000 personnel.
