Matthew H. Ward is a native of Matawan, New Jersey, who currently lives outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife Sarah and daughter Kiera. He holds a B.A. in History and Culture from Arizona State University (2007), an M.A. in History from Rutgers University-Camden (2018), and a Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from the Pennsylvania State University (2019). He is a historian and boxing journalist, who is the author of several articles in online and print media such as, The Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania's PhilaPlace.org, The Journal of the American Revolution, Philly Boxing History.com, the Picatinny Voice (Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey) newspaper, The United States Army official website, the International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) Journal, MaxBoxing.com, Atlas Obscura, Patch and The Weigh-In: Your Home for Combat Sports. Ward has served for over 15 years as an officer and civilian in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.
