I am a Navy reservist enlisted E/6 switching to the Army active duty as an O-2. My reserve points total is 1,955 but that includes IDT/IDTT/ ADT / AT/ Deployments. Do all points count toward "e" pay when commissioning from a Reserve component to an Active Duty component? OR is it just my ADT / AT / Deployment points that will count towards the active duty O-2e pay? Again, I am a Navy reservist going active duty Army.

Your points are not what determined your eligibility. Your days spent in an active duty status are what count towards the over 4 years required O-E pay

That means any time covered under a DD-214, anytime covered under activation orders 4 Federal activation, and if you are looking at a points worksheet, any days points covered under the AD column are worth one day per point. Just expect that you will need to take all of your documents to your S1 or career counselor once you get to your first unit and have them do a ba 1506

1LT (Join to see) they don't need to be endorsed, just regular copies of any type of orders or printouts showing the specific dates of your activation. Different services and components have different formats. I have seen what the Navy uses, but the USMC has a very handy database where they are all printed off from, so I assume it's similar.

As long as it says you will report to.... In an Active Duty Status on these days, DFAS will accept it

Turns out I am entitled to "e" pay. ADT/MOB/AT days all counted toward the 1461 active points = 4 years + 1 day of active duty :-) outstanding!

I’m a mustang officer and as others have stated you need 4-years active duty plus 1-day to qualify for e-pay. I had a junior officer under my command who had a bit under 4-years and had to repay 12-months of e-pay back.

When I direct commissioned I took my DD214s plus my drill point documentation and had the AF recompute my DIEMS date and PEBD. I had served more than 4-years enlisted active duty but wanted the documentation updated on the AF side. You should also provide similar documentation to the Army for similar reasons. If you have been a pure reservist with no appreciable active duty that equates to 4-years you will miss out on the e-pay. There has always been a misconception of who qualifies for e-pay.

Good luck with your new career.

thank you CDR! I'm starting to make my own packet of DD 214's , my ASOSH point sheet , and copies of all deployment, ADT, and annual training orders that I have been on. All I can do is try I guess..

I was a LT with a guy who got released from active duty just prior to the 4 year mark to go to west point. He also was not an O-1E.

Okay, that would make sense. My question is more for people that have blended service like guard/reserve to AD that did receive "e" pay. Thanks for the input, LTC!!

My understanding is for the regular army they only count days of federal active service. So they count AT and other days on orders but not drills.
I believe the reserve component counts good years.

Though I am no expert in the area.
