How likely is an AGR Soldier to make 1SG if he is selected to MSG this year?

I simply don’t understand these types of questions. On the one hand I think ,”If s/he doesn’t understand how this works, perhaps s/he shouldn’t be considered for the lateral move.” My other hand is silently screaming “If you want this job with all that it implies, why aren’t you standing outside of your CSMs and BC’s door advocating for the position” No, you want folks on Rally Point to tell you what to do. Is this really your best option?

I have taken that route of wanting the position (for the correct reasons) not just some turd that wants to look good then not be able to hack it. Other personnel that are to remain nameless have asked me in the past and never took that next step i.e. had the guts! I understand fully of the position requirement and how to truly get to that point in my career I only ask the question in public forum to acquire information/what others have experinanced. I have seen more questions answered on rally point that make my WTF meter almost explode. But no, it's not the best option but its a form of communication to other leaders.

2 NCOERS for the same period under different rating chains?
Certainly, some units need a change in discipline, but how is that related to an AGR MSG getting a 1SG position? Also, once you've "fixed" the discipline in one unit, will you move to the next?

At least it would be one fixed. Also the "sphere of influence" could assist in the development of junior NCO's to become a more effective leader. You cant reach them all but you can reach the ones that truly care about other and the Army.

Actually commendable, and I completely get it.
I visited my company commander before taking over as 1SG. First thing that stood out was I couldn't tell who was an NCO versus a PFC/SPC at a glance, because the junior enlisted Soldiers weren't standing at Parade Rest, and the NCOs weren't requiring it. This was AD.
That lack of basic discipline reflected in every program, as they had failed nearly everything during a recent CIP. So, discipline has an impact on many things.
I just don't see a 1SG position happening with your scenario.

I know a few AGR MSGs that were allowed to be in a M-Day 1SGs for one year. Then they had to revert back to a MSG. This was in Utah National Guard so I don't know the whole story. However in Kansas AGRs are on the 1SG list. If your organization will allow you to drill once a month as a 1SG and do your normal job the rest of the time it shouldn't be an issue. I am sure your state has a policy on this with AGR 1SGs being very rare.
